Buying or Selling a Home in Indiana

As promised, here is the next posting on buying real estate in the current market and specifically buying real estate in Indiana.  This time we will focus on the Home Buying process.

This article from BusinessWeek that gives the “Best and Worst Housing Markets for 2007” is a good assessment of the assertion that Real Estate is “local” and that there is not one default response the the question “is it a good time for home buying? Or is now the right time to sell your home?”

What this article highlights is how much the Real Estate market varies from locale to locale in the U.S.  So, when you see headlines out there like this one from CNN Money professing that, “Home Prices Continue Sharp Decent,” don’t panic, relax, especially if you live in places like Indiana.  Too many people looking for home buying advice see only the headline and miss the byline on the article that says, “Prices Stabilizes in the Heartland.”  Same article, 2 completely different headlines and pieces of data.

If you are considering buying real estate in this market, it is important to look at local data from the very recent past to see what the trend is in your neighborhood.  Where do you find this data?  We firmly believe that a highly qualified and experienced Indiana Real Estate Agent can provide you with the most complete and accurate comparison of what homes are selling for and the current trend and give you home buying advice based upon real information, not media hype.

Therefore, when you are trying to find a real estate agent, please make sure you ask how specifically they gather information to give you home buying advice on specific neighborhoods you should consider and what is a fair market price for the home you are considering.  In our opinion this is one of the key things that justifies real estate agent fees.

Let DoorFly help you find a real estate agent.  We specialize in helping customers evaluate and compare qualified and knowledgeable Indiana real estate agents.
