Choosing a Place to Live

If you’re moving to Indianapolis area or buying a new home in Central Indiana, Hamilton County is a place to consider.

Released last week, Forbes.com has listed Hamilton County on the top of its list of “America’s Best Places To Raise A Family.”

“Hamilton County has a couple of the finest school districts in the state of Indiana and that’s by graduation rates and test scores. We also think that Hamilton County has great quality of life to offer,” said Rick Sharp the president of the Carmel city council.

The criteria considered Forbes.com writers included:

  • standardized test scores,
  • cost of living,
  • crime rate,
  • commute time,
  • per capital income,
  • home prices, and
  • property tax rates.

My husband and I live in Hamilton County (Fishers, Indiana) and cannot agree more. It was one of the deciding factors when we chose our first Indianapolis home in the Eller Run subdivision.

The writers found the cost of the average Hamilton County home is $200,000 — this is a steal compared to similar areas across the country. We have friends and family living in NW Indiana paying the same amount for rent as we pay for mortgage. We keep telling them to move to Indianapolis!

So, if you’re looking to find a home in the Indianapolis area, consider Hamilton County, and use DoorFly.com to find a real estate agent and earn some money back at closing.
