Northwest Indiana Home Buyer Story

Alex & Angie Miller - First Time Home Buyers

I’ve always wanted to own a house. After living in apartments for two years and recently getting married, I was ready to get my own home with my new wife, Angie.

We did a lot of our own research online. It’s very easy to search online to find exactly what we wanted and not have to rely on someone else’s opinion of what we should see.

We met our real estate agent at one of the first open houses we went to. We chose her out of convenience, and she did a good job for us. After about two months of looking at houses in the area, we found one we wanted to put an offer on. We loved the house because it had a nice backyard (with fence and large deck), and it had four bathrooms, including one in a good sized basement.

We put in a bid and waited anxiously for the answer. We received a good counteroffer and accepted it. The negotiation portion of the transaction really was not complicated, and we settled on a price close to what we originally offer (10% off list price!).

After living in the house for a month now, we are very satisfied. We have found a lot we want to do to the house to make it our own. We got a puppy, which has delayed replacing the carpets (at least for a few months). Our first big project will be landscaping the backyard. If only we had known about Doorfly.com before making our purchase -- we would've had a little extra money to put towards the landscaping!
